History

VIN-KON-NIELEDEW Spółka z o.o.

History of the Nieledew plant goes back to the 19th century. The imposing buildings were erected during the last decade of 19th century. The company’s tradition is more than 100 years long. The characteristic architectural features point to the plant’s origins, and reveal that initially it was a sugar-mill.

The Nieledew sugar mill was owned by the Joint Stock Company established by the landowners and was in operation until 1934. During the retreat of the Russian tsarist army in 1915 the sugar mill was burned down. It was rebuilt in the years 1918-21.

The brick buildings of the Nieledew plant came back to life again during World War II. The German authorities launched a vegetable processing plant here to supply its army.

In 1951 after the war, the nationalized company began wine production, and were called the Hrubieszów Winery under Construction with the seat in Nieledew. In 1953 the name was changed to Hrubieszów Winery in Nieledew. In 1964, by order of the Minister of Food Industry and Procurement the Chełm Winery and Hrubieszów Winery in Nieledew were merged into one company called "Chełm" Fruit and Vegetables Processing Company in Chełm and Plant in Nieledew. The Company expanded, and food and vegetable processing was also launched.

In 1970 the Nieledew plant together with the Chełm Fruit and Vegetable Company became part of the newly established company called Lublin Fruit and Vegetables Company in Milejów and was part of this structure until 1976, when Lublin Fruit and Vegetables Company in Lublin was established and Nieledew became one of the plants owned by the newly established company. 3 years later the Lublin Fruit and Vegetables Company was replaced by "Fructopol" Food Industry Complex in Lublin, and the legal and organizational situation of the plant did not change.

On November 1st, 1988 a separate company, "Nieledew" Fruit and Vegetables Processing Company in Nieledew was established as a fully independent unit. In 1992 privatization of the company began, and since May 1996 the "Nieledew" Fruit and Vegetables Processing Plant has been a private company. Since 1999 its name is "VIN-KON-NIELEDEW" Spółka z o.o.
